Who I am
Who I am
I am Palma Grano, founder of GlocalVisions. I graduated in Political Science from the University of Lausanne and obtained a PhD in Education and Society from the University of Barcelona. I then built a career path that combines education, corporate social responsibility, and journalism, working as an interpreter and press officer in international contexts.
These experiences led me to develop a concept that I have been pursuing for years: glocal citizenship. Often reduced to a play on words between “global” and “local”, for me it is much more than that. It is a critical, creative, and collaborative lens that recognises the limitations of rigid frameworks and instead values individual and collective agency.
Glocal citizenship (Grano, 2022) is not satisfied with labels, but invites us to read the complexity of the world and transform it into opportunity — both in education and in entrepreneurial and social practices. It is a vision that stems from my being multilingual for over twenty years, and which has come to life in every sector in which I have worked.
I believe that the future belongs to those who know how to overcome simplistic categories, build bridges and think in glocal terms: rooted in the local, but capable of dialoguing with the global, recognising that the future is also ancestral.
But I am not alone...
As the Ubuntu principle in the Zulu proverb ‘umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’ reminds us: ‘I am because we are’.
This is why I collaborate with professionals from different sectors, especially from the world of art, creating tailor-made consultations, educational projects and training courses.
Because GlocalVisions is not a closed idea, but a starting point: projects are built together.
